Monster Girls

Some of you guys may have seen the the 30 Day Monster Girl Challenge being passed around by artists online.  Being incapable of following rules, I have been working on monster girl inspired art, but it isn't going to be one every day, and I'm not going in order.  I might not even do all 30 pieces, but I wanted to use this as an excuse to do some watercolor work.  Here's the light pencil outlines that I'm going to be using as a guide later on.

Dr. Sketchy's Sketch Dump

For those of you that don't know, there is a wonderful group of models and artists called Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School.  I had the pleasure of checking out their shindig on Tuesday, and here's the results.  I didn't realize before I went how artistically out of shape I was, working from the model felt like a whole new experience post-SCAD.

There was a contest for artists who could somehow incorporate unicorns, lasers, and/or rainbows into their drawings.  Awesome.

P.S.  Foreshortening will always be hard, forever, no matter what.  Keep doing it anyway.

The APE Haul

I know the people that follow this blog are lovers of art.  But are you art patrons?  The lifeblood of an artist is the people who are willing to shell out their hard earned money for something they consider beautiful.  I think usually the best reason a person who loves art but doesn't buy is because they know that good art is worth big bucks.  But I have a counterargument.

I got all of those pieces at APE for under $15.  That is a ton of artists, and I just threw a little tiny bit of cash and compliments to each of them.  I think you should be willing to do the same.  This might sound like a plea for people to spend money on my art, but it really isn't.  Art is not a person, it is a community, and the people making art should be willing to be patrons too.  I wish I had figured that out sooner myself.

With all that in mind, here's a couple links to my favorite artist finds of APE for you to check out.  (Or tell me your own favorites!)

The Smartee Pants

Recently, I was approached to work on a pitch project, and here's the resulting inked pages.

And Queen Esteem saves the day, with her powers of helping others see their true potential!  And being able to shoot glue at the bad guys.

The OEF and Punching

So as some of you may have heard, I have grouped up with the Oxford English Fictionary.  It's cool stuff!  I'm drawing helpful illustrations to make words that are made up more understandable.  Make sense?  I'll be up there every Wednesday.
I had to do some interesting studies for this week's little scribble.  I watched a bunch of slow motion videos of people being punched, and I had to stare at delicious pictures of sandwiches.  Reference is the key to drawing a man being hit in the face with a sub properly.

Sketch Dump

I've been doing a bunch of doodling lately!  Here we have some expression studies, two of my favorite musicians, and an adorable bat.  :3
